A Good Library - This is How a Library Should Be.

Library, a quiet place which is full of books also where people come to read and borrow the books, atleast that’s the first thing that came to my mind. Personally, I do not pay much attention or have exact idea about what a library is supposed to be – because all libraries are almost all the same and nothing special about it. I truly believe that libraries are here to help us gain information as much as possible. Some may tell that library is entertaining, and the rest may disagree and insist that library is a dull place. Anyhow it all depends on what you read or do in the library.

Binus Library at Anggrek Campus is located on the first floor, which is pretty large. Everyone must bring their Binusian Card and place their bags in the reception before entering inside the library. For the service, Binus library has comfortable seats, place to study, and many computers used for search engine or also for surfing. It also provides a lot of books, CDs, journals, theses, magazines and so on as the main sources. Binus Library also provides internet access inside. It also has a website where you can access directly from their computer, or just go to http://library.binus.ac.id/ from your web browser if you want to access it at your house. From that website, you will know where you can find the books you are looking for. It can be told that Binus Library has a complete collection. You will be able to find anything related to each major as additional education.

The best thing about Binus Library is that you can use Binus Library’s website to extend your loan period online, in other words you do not need to come to campus only for extending the period of your loan. Librarian will send an email to your account three days before the due date, if you’re late to return then you have to pay some penalty. In addition you will have to pay some cash or replace a new book itself, in case you lost your loan book. The rule is strict enough, if you do not obey then you will face the consequences later on the examination period. Anyway there is some books which are not allowed to be borrowed and some is for references. The books that may not be borrowed has TENDON as its label, so you are only able to read it inside the library. If you want to copy the book, they will only give you 30 minutes to have it photocopied outside.

Unfortunately, I find that this library is bit complicated than those I’ve ever seen. It was difficult for me to find the books I wanted , perhaps it was probably because I’m still not used to it. Some of computers in library doesnt even work. But afterall I really like this library, I perceive that I can get what I want and would love to spend my spare time to read here. In my opinion, Binus Library serves us good services. It has complete books which help the students from many kind of majors to fulfil their needs. If you know how Binus manage their library, you can tell that Binus Library is totally advanced compared to the others.

Global Warming VS Human Needs

Global warming has been a common topic for many years. There are many predicted effects for the environment and for human life due to global warming. The main effect centres around an increase in the global average temperature. Many people have been arguing about global warming and trying to get the conclusion to solve this issue. Some of their conclusion includes the reduction of vehicles usage, planting trees, etc. In the contrast, those suggestions are really hard to do by major of people.

First issue : Reduction of Vehicles Usage.

This suggestion comes to prevent global warming. We are suggested to reduce the usage of vehicles since they produce carbon monoxide which causes global warming. In any case, to reduce the vehicles usage seems hard to come true. We must consider various purpose of human needs. The reduction of vehicles usage means there is a limitation of vehicles production. As a vehicle manufacturer, they can not stop producing their goods each year. The limitation of production may cause less income which can affect financial cash and will lead into bankruptcy. To be noted, vehicle manufacturers surely have lots of employees dedicatedly working there for such long time. Less income will push the vehicle manufacturers to force unemployment among. That is one of those reasons why the reduction of vehicles usage is hard to come true. On other hand, one source of government income is taken from gasoline and taxes. If the common citizen would stop using vehicles that consume gas, then less gasoline would be sold which means less income for government. The economy will become the first major issue caused by earth saving.
The same thing goes to planting trees suggestion, as we know humans have really limited space for living. Humans also need utilities to fulfil their needs. No wonder why some green areas are disappeared, only to support our living. Group of people are against tree-cutting, yet it is contradictory compared to what they do for living. In other words, to solve global warming issue is not that easy because the conclusion is very related to human needs.

Brain Tumour

A brain tumor (or brain tumour) is an intracranial solid neoplasm, a tumor (defined as an abnormal growth of cells) within the brain or the central spinal canal.
Brain tumors include all tumors inside the cranium or in the central spinal canal. They are created by an abnormal and uncontrolled cell division, normally either in the brain itself (neurons, glial cells (astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, ependymal cells, myelin-producing Schwann cells), lymphatic tissue, blood vessels), in the cranial nerves, in the brain envelopes (meninges), skull, pituitary and pineal gland, or spread from cancers primarily located in other organs (metastatic tumors).
Any brain tumor is inherently serious and life-threatening because of its invasive and infiltrative character in the limited space of the intracranial cavity. However, brain tumors (even malignant ones) do not automatically cause death. Brain tumors or intracranial neoplasms can be cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign); however, the definitions of malignant or benign neoplasms differs from those commonly used in other types of cancerous or non-cancerous neoplasms in the body. Its threat level depends on the combination of factors like the type of tumor, its location, its size and its state of development. Because the brain is well protected by the skull, the early detection of a brain tumor only occurs when diagnostic tools are directed at the intracranial cavity. Usually detection occurs in advanced stages when the presence of the tumor has side effects that cause unexplained symptoms.
Primary (true) brain tumors are commonly located in the posterior cranial fossa in children and in the anterior two-thirds of the cerebral hemispheres in adults, although they can affect any part of the brain.

Brain tumour symptoms

The most common symptoms of a brain tumour are headaches and fits. But do remember that there are much more common reasons for both these symptoms. A fit can just be jerking or twitching of a hand, arm or leg. Or it may affect the whole body.
A growing tumour causes pressure inside the skull. You may hear this called ‘raised intracranial pressure’. This causes headache, sickness and drowsiness. It can also cause fits and problems with your eyes.
A brain tumour presses on the brain tissue around it. So it will affect the part of the body, or the body process, that is controlled by that part of the brain. This means that brain tumours can cause a very wide range of symptoms. Physical symptoms can include weakness or numbness in a particular part of the body, or problems with one of your senses. Brain tumours can also cause personality changes and problems with thinking, speaking, remembering or concentrating.

Here are symptoms that can be caused by tumours in different parts of the brain and the spinal cord:
